Had a one day open studio Friday , with a guest artist we did a couple of Raku firings befor it rained , some awesome pieces.these two are mine from the fire

Anyway , I'm stil having fun getting used to the new Raku kiln and firing it whenever I can , so , here is a platter from Monday

Third annual Holiday Open Studio

Great day today , got to see lots of friends stop by , and did a demo Raku in the new kiln . I'll be doing another one tomorrow . Great day , lots of my ceramics found new homes today , so I have lots of shelf space to fill up . Here is a pic of the piece from the fire today

It was a wonderful evening at the Sedona Arts Center . It is a great show , and it is running until November 22 

In la la land

I am remiss , haven't posted in a while , sorry . Been busy with lots of exciting stuff , planning a new Raku kiln with a friend , learning some new techniques , and working on a new body of work. I have been selected as the featured ceramic artist during November at the Sedona Arts Center . Plus we are having our annual thanksgiving open studio and sale

It's not hot enough

Only 101 today at the studio, so we had to fire up the raku kilns , here are the results 

Chemical sagar

Two new pieces from the chemical sagar, then I ran them through the bisque in the electric kiln , and it really enhanced the color , very dramatic 

New process

These are two test pieces I used utrying out a new to me process . These two pieces came from a tin foil saggar . The pots were coated  respectively  in ferric chloride and potassium dicrominate . The tin foil is then smeared with honey and peanut butter, add a few organic items of your choice , a few egg shells , wrap it up and put in kiln .
